Well the email came today for the first week of the Live More, Weigh Less challenge. I have to say, my first response was underwhelming. But I know me. I tend to meet new ideas with not so much enthusiasm. I see the weakness and the “yeah, buts.” This is true especially if it is something I don’t particularly want to do. I’m in the challenge to step outside my comfort zone so I’m doing the challenges the best I can, even the ones I think are stupid.
Tuesday, 9/3: Buy Fresh Flowers
Wednesday, 9/4: Make a Green Smoothie
Thursday, 9/5: Watch the First Video in the LMWL Video Training Series
Friday, 9/6: Eat Without Distractions
Saturday, 9/7: Hike
Sunday, 9/8: Watch the Sunset
Buy fresh flowers? Seriously? Isn’t this a bit of a cliche? Buying ourselves flowers is supposed to show how we value ourselves and do nice things for ourselves. What if we don’t really care about flowers? Can I buy a nice flowering plant? I like plants a lot better. Well, it doesn’t say “cut flowers.”
Green smoothies. Eww. I’ve always thought they sounded awful. But, who knows? Maybe green smoothies will be really tasty. And maybe they will make me feel good. Can I make my green smoothie with mint ice cream? Probably not.
Eat without distraction. Hmm. I can’t even pretend to hate on this. It’s something that I’ve known I need to do for more mindful eating but somehow I never do it.
Hike. The only one that is just not going to happen. So what can I do as an alternative that captures the spirit of the challenge? I think it has to be outside the house, the theme of many of these challenges, at least to me, is getting outside the house. That’s a challenge in and of itself these days. So I’m taking suggestions, but I don’t want to have to drive a long way to do it.
Watch the sunset. I can do that. At least it wasn’t “sunrise.” I wonder what time the sun sets this time of year. Can I watch it from my air conditioned house? It’s hot out there.
